Mining Module Guide
In this guide I will try and explain to you the difference between modules. Now it is pretty simple but there is a lot of information given to you in each show info box for each module. There are a couple types of modules in the universe of EVE online. Tech one modules, Tech two modules, faction modules, story line modules, pirate modules, dead space modules, and officer modules. In this guide I will be talking to you about the Tech one and Tech two modules.
For each module in mining there are different things done. Mining lasers mine ores while mining upgrades increase ore times and decrease mining times. Here I will only be talking about the mining upgrades and mining lasers. For high slot modules that extract ore from rocks there are 2 main types and in those 2 main types there are two lesser types there are also ice harvesters and gas harvesters. Below is a list of mining lasers with their differences.
Mining Lasers
Miner I 10km range 60 second activation time 40m3 mining amount
EP-S Gaussian Excavation Pulse 10.60km range 60 second activation time 42m3 mining amount
Dual Diode Mining Laser I 11.20km range 60 second activation time 44m3 mining amount
XeCl Drilling Beam I 11.80km range 60 second activation time 47m3 mining amount
Cu Vapor Particle Bore Stream 12.40km range 60 second activation time 49m3 mining amount
Miner II 12.00km range 60 second activation time 60m3 mining amount
Deep Core Mining Lasers
Deep Core Mining Laser I 5000m range 60 second activation time 40m3 mining amount
Modulated Deep Core Mining Laser II 10km mining range 180 second activation time 120m3 mining amount 120m3 specialty crystal mining amount
Strip Miners (these can only be fitted to mining barges and exhumers)
Strip Miner I 15km mining range 180 second activation time 540m3 mining amount
Modulated Strip Miner II 15km mining range 180 second activation time 360m3 mining amount 360m3 specialty crystal mining amount
Modulated Deep Core Strip Miner II 15km mining range 180 second activation time 250m3 mining amount 250m3 specialty crystal mining amount
Ice Harvesters (these can only be fit to mining barges and exhumers)
Ice Harvester I 10km mining range 600 second activation time 1000m3 mining amount
Ice Harvester II 10km mining range 500 second activation time 1000m3 mining amount
Gas Cloud Harvesters (for these all the Tech one variations have the same mining amount 10m3 the same cycle time 30 seconds and the same range 1500m)
Gas Cloud Harvester I 60 CPU 2 Power Grid
‘Crop’ Gas Cloud Harvester 48 CPU 2 Power Grid
‘Plow’ Gas Cloud Harvester 30 CPU 2 Power Grid
Gas Cloud Harvester II 1500m mining range 40 second activation time 20m3 mining amount 70 CPU 5 Power Grid
There are also some items that will help you with your mining and these items are called mining laser upgrades and ice harvester upgrade. For the mining laser upgrades they increase your yield but for the ice harvester upgrades they decrease your ice harvester’s cycle time.
Mining Laser Upgrades
Mining Laser Upgrade I 5% mining amount bonus 10% CPU penalty
Erin Mining Laser Upgrade 6% mining amount bonus 9% CPU penalty
Elara Mining Laser Upgrade 7% mining bonus 8.5% CPU penalty
Carpo Mining Laser Upgrade 8% mining bonus 8% CPU penalty
Aoede Mining Laser Upgrade 9% mining bonus 7.5% CPU penalty
Mining Laser Upgrade II 9% mining bonus 12.5% CPU penalty
Ice Harvester Upgrades
Ice Harvester Upgrade I -5% cycle time 10% CPU penalty
Crisium Ice Harvester Upgrade -6% cycle time 9% CPU penalty
Frigoris Ice Harvester Upgrade -7% cycle time 8.5% CPU penalty
Anguis Ice Harvester Upgrade -8% cycle time 8% CPU penalty
Ingenii Ice Harvester Upgrade -9% cycle time 7.5% CPU penalty
Ice Harvester Upgrade II -9% cycle time 12.5% CPU penalty
As you can see there are many modules that can affect your cycle time or the amount of yield per cycle. Remember this guide did not take the ship you are using or your skills. Those two factors will greatly affect your cycle time and yield. Orca bonuses will also affect your cycle time and yield.
I hope you enjoyed my guide to Mining modules.
